While Untreated Masses are Available, Testing Remains the Rate Limiting Step
Just today a report was published by markets and markets that projects stratospheric growth for companies who provide product for the treatment of sleep apnea. This is an interesting statistic, but there are rate limiting steps to the treatment of sleep apnea; most notably timely screening and testing. While patients complain of symptoms, sleep lab based testing options are inconvenient at best and costly. The growth of home sleep testing is promising, but will be the growth governor for this market as far more people have sleep apnea than are tested.
There is no question the treatment of sleep apnea will make us all safer and more productive; as testing and treatment options evolve, the full potential of this marketplace will be realized. Will it happen in 5 years? We are hopeful.
