US Population Facts

When the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, the population of the United States was just 2.5 million. On July 4, 2015 our estimated population reached 321.4 million people.

 

Fireworks Facts

The combined amount of fireworks sales for retailers and wholesalers inside the United states reached $851.2 million in 2012.

63% of Americans attend a fireworks display.

26% of Americans light their own fireworks. No good numbers for how many kids burn their fingers each year (Dave burned his fingers almost every year back then).

 

Celebrations Facts

66% of Americans display an American flag for the fourth of July

76% of Americans report getting together with family to enjoy the day.

80% of Americans attend a barbecue, picnic or cookout in celebration of the holiday.

32% of Americans watch an Independence Day parade.

41.9 Million Americans were expected to travel at least 50 miles from their home to celebrate last year. The Actionable Team is mostly hanging at home this year.

 

Fun Food Fact

On the fourth of July Americans eat 150 million hot dogs. According to History.com, that’s enough hot dogs to stretch from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. more than 5 Times.
